1960 Corvette
Once again, not much changed in 1960 for the Corvette. Although, a 315 horsepower engine was added as an option. Changes to the body/engine included a new rear suspension sway bar which improved the handling. In addition aluminum cylinder heads and an aluminum radiator were added, but later withdrawn.
Just a little piece of history - approximately 50% of all 1960 Corvette owners bought the detachable hardtop. Also, about 50% of the owners opted for the four-speed manual transmission. A 1960 Corvette with the 283 engine reached 60 mph in 8.3 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 16.1 seconds at 89 mph. Overall, I wouldn't say this is impressive by today's standards at all. A four cylinder Toyota Corolla with 130 horsepower is equally as fast today.
