The 1961 Corvette in many ways was the early design of the infamous Stingray.  Corvette made a few changes this year such as a duck tailed rear end with four cylindrical tailights. The trunk became roomier too.

The 1961 Corvette with 315 horsepower raced to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds, with a maximum speed of 140 mph.  This was also the last year you could order contrasting colors for the side coves.  In addition to exterior and interior changes, many optional features in past models were now standard equipment.
